We’re rewarded for our persistence, our perseverance and our determination. If it was easy, quick, popular and cheap, it usually doesn’t pay very well. Why? Because any dope can do it. How many people will spend years and years learning to be a surgeon?
Not many. Laziness, an addiction to comfort, and a lack of self esteem disqualifies the masses.
So there are few surgeons compared to hamburger flippers. And guess who gets the big big bucks?
Randy Pausch said, “The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.”
Supply and demand. You don’t find polished diamonds lying around in your local McDonald’s. They’re scarce because it takes a lot of work, training, investment, and risk to get them from the ground to that state. Rare resources cost more. Are YOU a rare resource? How valuable is your service?
You see, you determine what you’re worth, how much you’ll get paid, and whether or not you are in demand. It takes hard work, and most people don’t want to focus, bank on themselves, believe in themselves, and delay gratification. Look around you: obese people, smokers, people who are more interested in watching sports and playing video games than improving their skills. Not much competition for winners…
Every area of your life affects every other area. Work on yourself – be the best you can physically, socially, spiritually, emotionally, financially, and in the work you do. Look like a champion, talk and think like a champion, act like a champion, and do what champions do. It’s not crowded at the top of the mountain.
Conscientiously one your skills. Do the opposite to what the sheeple do.
Don’t worry about being popular or accepted or liked. Become outstanding at what you do. Find out what skill is necessary and become the very best at that skill. Pay the price. Be patient. Invest in yourself. Believe in yourself.
